Drawing: I’ve heard Odd Nerdrum say that a lot of time has been wasted trying to find the perfect medium for visual art. At the end of the day we will always be left with a piece of charcoal and a rock to draw on, right? Charcoal is direct and intense, while also being expressive, real and forgiving; I want to be charcoal.
Oil painting: I’m in love with oil painting. (?), Leonardo, Carvaggio, Rembrandt, Munch, Kittelsen, Nerdrum; I think humans have painted, and will continue to paint with organic oil forever: It feels timeless, to me — like an antidote to the decline of culture & tradtition — the increasing rise in productivity and artificiality? I want my art to ask questions and tell stories
